Over time, it seems that the staff of Nawrocki can manage better than the staff of Trzaskowski, “says Prof. Henryk Domański, a sociologist from the Polish Academy of Sciences in an interview with the Portal Wpolity.pl.
Wpolityce.pl: the last month of the campaign before the presidential elections are underway. Until now there have not been many moments that would attract the attention of the public, except for recent debates in Końskie. Do you expect that similar exciting events still have to be expected in this campaign and have they considerably influenced support for individual candidates?
Prof. Henryk Domański: After what was in the case of the debates in Końskie, it seems to me that such events can influence candidates. After the debates, surveys appeared unfavorably for Trzaskowski. This must be attributed to the effect of a debate in which Nawrocki fell better than Trzaskowski. The candidate Ko was worse in the debate, because in what he says there is no consistency, there is generality. Trzaskowski tries to run away from some problems with violence and therefore comes in general, banalities, because nothing else can do. In the case of Nawrocki it is different, he does not have to pretend that someone, everyone knows he is on the right and conservative side. Moreover, during the debate on social consciousness, the issue of contradictions of political interests under the ruling coalition penetrated. During the debate, Szymon Hołownia criticized the prevailing camp in which he was alone.
Rafał Trzaskowski did not appear in the debate that took place a few days later on Telewizja Republika Rafał Trzaskowski. Is this a good decision from the point of view of his interest or a political mistake?
In my opinion, this decision still worsens the assessment of Trzaskowski by society, because it is such a avoidance of confrontation with violence, but only because he does not want to come to Telewizja Republika – just like Magdalena Biejat. It works against these candidates. Trzaskowski was probably afraid to come to the debate about Telewizja Republika, for fear that he would get some difficult questions about, for example, his attitude towards abortion or against the church.

John Paul II, he presented himself as a defender of the Polish border. Earlier he was associated by society in a completely different way. Can such a strategy of the KO -candidate personnel prove to be effective?

Everything seems to indicate that in these elections there will be a second round with the participation of Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki. How is what is happening now, influences the possibility of individual voters from other candidates by Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawocki?
The fact that Trzaskowski’s staff only wanted to limit the debate in Końskie to two candidates was made aware, but this is widely received as a violation of the principles of democracy, equal opportunities. This is another issue that indicates that the entire event was at the expense of Trzaskowski. During the debate itself, including the flag of LGBT Rafał Trzaskowski by Karol Nawrocki, who then hid the candidate Ko, and after a while was taken over by the left -wing candidate Magdalena Biejat. This situation confirmed that we are dealing with a variety of interests in the prevailing camp, and this gesture with the flag was received by society as the presentation of Trzaskowski as a policy with two with two caught. Recently there has been a fairly important change that will influence the second election round about the flow of voters.
The staff of Rafał Trzaskowski started the debate in Końskie. What did he count on? In the end it ended with two debates, in which a number of candidates participated.
Trzaskowski’s staff probably thought he should go in public opinion on those who initiates this kind of debate and invites it. That is why Trzaskowski was waiting for Karol Nawrocki to debate after the proposal of Karol Nawrocki, probably two weeks, so it would come that Trzaskowski initiates a debate with Nawrocki, and if this doesn’t work out, it is clearly afraid of Nawocki. However, this did not come out in the light that other candidates quickly reached Końskie.
