The Israeli Prime Minister accused Iran of involvement in the militants’ actions.
“Our fight is not with the people of Gaza. Islamic Jihad is an Iranian puppet who wants to overthrow the State of Israel and kill innocent Israelis… We will do our best to protect our people,” he said.
The Palestinian Authority, which controls parts of the West Bank but has a limited presence in Gaza, condemned Jerusalem’s actions and said the international community should “pressure Israel to stop this aggression”. Israel’s actions were also condemned by Qatar, Turkey and Jordan.
