Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz ruled today that the report of the Supreme Court of Audit regarding the so-called The visa scandal shows how “hypocritical the policy” was of the predecessors of the current government, who – as he added – came to power by ensuring that they would end the migration pact.
Today, the President of the Supreme Court of Auditors, Marian Banaś, presented a report on the so-called visa scandal, i.e. the practice of wrongly issuing visas to foreigners under the former leadership of the ministry.
Banaś pointed out, among other things, that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a non-transparent and corruption-generating mechanism to influence consuls regarding the issuance of visas. He also said the inspection covered the period from early 2018 to May 17 this year and revealed “as many as 46 irregularities in 5 areas”.
The NIK has negatively assessed the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ supervision of consular activities during the period examined
– said Banaś.
Shifting responsibility
When asked for comment, Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz told journalists in the Sejm that the report “shows how hypocritical the policies” of the current government’s predecessors were.
They came to power and one of the arguments was to stop migration, the migration pact that was then announced by the EU
– he added.
The leader of the People’s Party also emphasized that it is important to implement the migration policy announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The head of government announced yesterday that he will announce Poland’s multi-year migration strategy on October 12 at noon. He announced that it would not only be a program to combat illegal migration, but also a modern migration policy that would last for years; the strategy must be a proposal for the entire European Union.
The Prime Minister noted that Poland, like the entire EU, is “under pressure from migration due to wars, hunger and overpopulation across Europe.” Poland, he added, “is a victim of the ill-advised visa policy” of his government’s predecessors. Moreover, the head of government emphasized that we are also talking about a completely new migration organized by Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin on Poland’s eastern border, and what is happening there “quite resembles a war landscape.”
For the leaders of the current ruling coalition, Marian Banaś, whom they have ruthlessly attacked for a long time, is now a respectable and reliable president of a state institution. Of course, especially now that he has made it a point of honor to investigate the PiS government.
