Zbigniew Rau, former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke in the program “Gość Wiadomości wPolsce24”, among other things: about the lifting of the immunity of Marcin Romanowski by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Why are the EU bodies not responding to the violation of the law by the Polish authorities and to the disregard of the Supreme Court resolution?
As to why the EU authorities are not responding to this, the answer is simple: it is about the ideological identity between the current government in Poland and the EU political establishment. This is a common political project that started when the United Right camp suffered an electoral defeat
– he explained Zbigniew Rau.
The consequence of this is now the implementation of the revolutionary manifesto that Donald Tusk presented in the Senate not so long ago, he called it ‘militant democracy’, which means that existing legal norms effectively cease to apply if they are not consistent with revolutionary principles
– he added.
“The decision was political.”
Zbigniew Rau commented directly on the issue of lifting Marcin Romanowski’s immunity.
He wanted to prepare thoroughly so that there would be no doubt about the facts attributed to him. As far as we know, there was an extraordinary dynamic in these proceedings, so much so that he was not able to participate in the proceedings in a way that would be necessary for the investigation into the material truth.
– said Zbigniew Rau, referring to the pace of the procedure aimed at revoking Romanowski’s immunity.
It is difficult to resist the impression, and I was a member of the European Union, that the decision was a political one, and I do not hesitate to publicly question whether this decision was taken before the start of these proceedings.
– he added.
