French President Emmanuel Macron said he was unaware of the plans of Telegram messenger founder Pavel Durov to come to Paris. The head of state reportedly made the statement at a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade. TASS.
“I had absolutely no knowledge of Mr Durov’s arrival in France,” the French leader said.
Macron also denied reports that he was planning to meet with the Telegram founder.
“The information that there was some kind of invitation from my side is false. I did not plan to meet with the French President, Mr. Durov, neither last weekend nor in the coming days,” he said.
Court in Paris on the evening of August 28 presented Durov is accused of six charges: refusal to cooperate with intelligence services, possession of pornographic material, involvement in drug trafficking, and others. The court also imposed a preventive measure on him: judicial supervision with a bail of 5 million euros and the obligation to report to the police twice a week. He is also prohibited from leaving French territory.
Durova was detained Getting off a private plane at Paris Le Bourget Airport on the evening of August 24. The entrepreneur arrived in France from Azerbaijan.
