““We all expected that the next attack would be on Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk and Radio Maryja,” says Prof. Mieczysław Ryba in an interview with wPolityce.pl. The KUL lecturer believes that the importance of numerous works initiated by the Redemptorist cannot be overestimated. “This is a gigantic and groundbreaking work, and such attacks cannot undermine it,” says Prof. Ryba, referring to the recent statements of MPs Roman Giertych, Dariusz Joński and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Politicians from the ruling coalition are attacking Radio Maryja founder Father Tadeusz Rydzyk. MP Roman Giertych, head of the PiS party’s settlement team, wants to revoke Radio Maryja’s broadcasting license and send prosecutors to audit its finances. In turn, KO MEP Dariusz Joński said on RMF FM today that property will have to be confiscated.
We are dealing with a government that is introducing an ideological left revolution and therefore wants to destroy all criticism. Criticism of the Church is extremely dangerous for them
– says Prof. Mieczysław Ryba in an interview with wPolityce.pl. For a lecturer at the Catholic University of Lublin, the attack on Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, who was the first to break the media monopoly of the Third Polish Republic, was expected after Donald Tusk took power.
The works created by Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, including Radio Maryja, are a gigantic work that serves society and the nation. All of this has not only a strictly media dimension, but above all a cultural dimension. We are talking about the culture presented by the Primate of the Millennium, Cardinal. Stefan Wyszyński. His teaching and the teaching of St. John Paul II was and is still present on Radio Maryja. All this gives life to a large part of the Catholic society in Poland, which for a thousand years has been immersed in this tradition and the history of our nation’s existence, despite the divisions. I repeat once again: this is a gigantic and groundbreaking work, and such attacks cannot undermine it. Once the Primate Cardinal. Wyszyński was attacked, and today it is happening to Father Tadeusz Rydzyk
– emphasizes the political scientist and historian of the Catholic University of Lublin.

““They attack the foundations of Christian morality.”
From the very beginning of its existence, Radio Maryja encountered resistance from people who were building the post-Round Table order in Poland.
The works created on the initiative of Father Tadeusz Rydzyk are a media void in an unfinished system. In the 1990s, there was an extraordinary struggle to grant a nationwide license to Radio Maryja. Subsequently, the allocation of frequencies to this radio was postponed. In response to these actions, large demonstrations were organized and KRRiTV was flooded with expressions of support for Radio Maryja. In the same way, the entrance to the TV Trwam multiplex was blocked. This was because these media were a kind of rift through which uncomfortable information leaked to the public. Information that should not have appeared in the public discussion at all. Now we are also dealing with an attempt to close this gapbecause other media outlets that are critical of this government are also in trouble today. However, this will not work because we now have much greater mobility of listeners and viewers
– says Prof. Mieczysław Ryba, who does not hide the fact that Roman Giertych was once associated with Radio Maryja, but today he is an instrument in the hands of Tusk’s coalition.
Giertych is a tool to persecute those who criticize the current government. Tusk has been attacking Father Tadeusz Rydzyk for a long time. He did similar things during his first government. Radio Maryja is one of the main centers critical of the activities of this political team, which radically attacks the foundations of Christian morality. In defense of life, in raising children – we are talking about gender ideology here
– emphasizes the KUL lecturer, who is concerned about the logic of the new government.
The Tusk government is introducing various kinds of revolutionary agendas that not only can, but should be criticized by the Church. This is the duty not only of such radio stations, but also of the entire clergy, who are supposed to judge politics and public life from a moral point of view. We are talking about issues that are fundamental for the Church, not about subtleties. If we were to accept this line of thinking that the Church cannot evaluate politics and public life, it would mean denying its entire 2,000-year-old mission. The issues of in vitro and abortion that Roman Giertych talks about have always been clearly specified not only on Radio Maryja, but also by him so far. Relativizing these issues does not fit within the framework of Catholic doctrine
– the obvious Prof. Vis reminds us.
Furthermore, there is an attempt to treat PiS as an organized criminal group. In the government’s opinion, those who are not members of the Round Table Agreement cannot legitimately hold power. Therefore, they claim that all budget expenditures during the PiS government were a money pumping station, not state expenditures. The same expenditures on schools and institutions that the current government makes are already legal because the state provides something. In this view, if church institutions were involved in the implementation of certain state programs and received money for them, they are treated as if they had taken something illegal, because they have no right to it. All because they have an ideological conflict with the current government, not a legal conflict. They are treated as PiS collaborators. They collaborated with those who ruled illegally for eight years and got something they were not entitled to. This is their logic
– says Prof. Ryba believes that the attack on the director of Radio Maryja, initiated a few days ago by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, opens up new opportunities to cover up the government’s incompetence.
The most striking example of this logic today is Fr. Michal Olszewski. We all expected that the next attack would be aimed at Father Tadeusz Rydzyk and Radio Maryja. We see that “someone” gave the password to launch this attack. Moreover, the new government is very bad at governing, so a new spectacle of hatred must be deployed
