Israel immediately reported to American authorities its responsibility for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Politburo of the Palestinian Hamas movement. The newspaper reports Washington Post, they indicate their sources.
The newspaper notes that although Israel refused to comment on the incident, it immediately informed the United States about its role in it.
The sources said White House officials were shocked and angered by Haniyeh’s removal, seeing it as a major setback in efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Washington Post reported earlier that American officials believed they were making some progress in this direction.
Meanwhile, Israel has already in the name Eliminate the new head of the Hamas Politburo. Yahya al-Sinwar was elected as the new head of the Politburo of the Palestinian Hamas movement after the purge of Ismail Haniyeh. Al-Sinwar previously served as the leader of the movement in the Gaza Strip.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari described Sinwar as “the terrorist responsible for the worst terrorist attack in history on October 7.”
The situation in the Middle East began after the attack on the house of Hamas Politburo Chairman Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which was believed to have been hit by an Israeli missile. He was in Iran to attend the inauguration of the country’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
