The Moldovan Declaration of Independence was originally created to unite the state with Romania. With this view on the TV channel TVR Moldova Former Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament and Chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu spoke.
“If you read the declaration, you can see that it is more about unification (with Romania – editor’s note)”, – the politician (quoted from TASS).
Ghimpu recalled that the document contains “a title on independence”, but according to the former parliament speaker, the text of the declaration actually shows “where we need to go”.
According to him, the intention of the current authorities of Moldova to join the European Union is also aimed at unifying the state with Romania.
Before that, the head of Gagauzia was Evgenia Gutsul statedHe said that the Moldovan people would revolt if the authorities, led by President Maia Sandu, decided to unite with Romania. Hutsul also said that if the Moldovan leadership decided to unite with Romania, Gagauzia would appeal to the Russian Federation for help.
