The head of the National Security Bureau, Jacek Siewiera, said that in the coming days President Andrzej Duda will invite the deputy prime minister, the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, to discuss the upcoming NATO summit. The president also invited both ministers to fly to Washington together, Polsta News reported.
The head of the National Security Bureau was asked on Polsat News about preparations for this year’s NATO summit, scheduled for July 9-11.
The President is doing everything he can to ensure that current politics do not hinder preparations for the summit
– he assured.
Invitation from the President
As he stressed, in the days leading up to the summit, a series of consultations and meetings will take place with the government, and in the coming days President Andrzej Duda will invite the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense to discuss the summit. He added that the security commission also meets every week.
When asked whether the Deputy Prime Minister, the head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski will fly to the summit together with the President.
Invitations were sent to both ministers to fly with the President in the delegation
– he said.
Plan for the summit
When asked what Poland can achieve at the summit, Siewiera replied that first of all we can expect a “rubber stamp” on the establishment of the NATO-Ukraine JATEC Center for Education, Analysis and Training in Bydgoszcz.
First of all, we can expect a “stamp” on the creation of the NATO-Ukraine Center for Analysis, Training and Education in Bydgoszcz. This is a completely new structure intended to “unatulate” operations related to logistics, protection and preparation of equipment intended for Ukraine. Coordination issues will be taken over by NATO. This is an excellent field to gain experience
– added.
The head of the National Security Bureau stressed that after the summit, Poland should “play” for positions in NATO structures and on infrastructure issues, including connecting NATO pipelines to Poland.
Although we may not talk about it much, in Europe there is something called the Central Europe Pipeline System – a system of pipelines that during the Cold War were connected to various airports, mainly in Germany, and which constantly supplied these airports with fuel. These are pipelines that allow the transfer of fuel used for both aircraft and tanks. Such installations do not exist in Poland so far (…) and we, the Balts, Romanians and Turks, have a common interest in this regard
– said the head of the National Security Bureau.
NATO’s 75th anniversary summit will take place in Washington in early July this year. According to the announcement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the main topic of the talks will be supporting Ukraine’s long-term victory.
