A few days ago in the PAP Studio, the head of the International Policy Office at the KPRP, Mieszko Pawlak, announced that Tomasz Szatkowski, who, according to the Foreign Ministry, has completed his mission as ambassador to NATO, will probably accompany the president at the July summit of the Alliance.
Tomasz Szatkowski, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to NATO since 2019, completed the mission on May 31, together with three ambassadors from other countries, the Foreign Ministry said. On May 23, the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee gave a positive opinion on the candidacy of Jacek Najder for ambassador to NATO. However, on the same day, the President announced that he would not sign this nomination. He stressed that this candidacy had not been discussed with him and that he had not accepted it, which he considered to be contrary to the current procedure.
The Polish ambassador to the North Atlantic Alliance is Tomasz Szatkowski. And it will remain that way until the president fires him. And the president stated from the start that he saw no point in recalling the ambassador to NATO before the summit
– Mieszko Pawlak stressed in an interview with PAP.
When asked whether Szatkowski would be fired by the president after the NATO summit, he said that “it will be the president’s decision and the time for this decision will come after the NATO summit.”
