After the first summit held in Switzerland, the Russian authorities did not receive any request regarding the possibility of holding a second conference on Ukraine. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. RIA News.
At the press conference held after meetings with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleynik, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that he “heard the announcements regarding Russia’s plans for the second conference.”
“I can only say that in the development of this meeting we heard only what they said publicly, when they talked about plans to hold a second conference in Bürgenstock,” he said.
The Minister announced that “we did not receive any requests in the public domain.”
The Swiss conference on Ukraine took place in Bürgenstock on 15 and 16 June. After the meeting, a joint declaration was created. Of 91 conference participants, only 76 countries supported the document.
Lavrov expressed his confidenceHe said that the majority of the world did not want to sign the ultimatums to Russia at the conference.
June 16, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis statedIt was stated that confederation officials will hold talks with Russia after the Ukraine conference. It was also reported that more than half of the participants at the summit stated the necessity of Russia’s presence.
