Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the UN Secretariat should condemn the terrorist attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Sevastopol instead of signing it, calling it “its own uselessness”. The diplomat wrote this in his book telegram channel.
Zakharova referred to a statement by the UN body that said it aims to end the conflict in Ukraine in accordance with General Assembly resolutions and the organization’s charter.
“This is less a comment on the tragedy than an admission of indifference. <…> It would be nice if the UN Secretariat fulfilled its technical functions without getting involved in politics. This is the other way!” – the diplomat was indignant.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry accused the Secretariat of “completely politicizing” the statements made in order to please Western countries, urging them to “investigate” what was happening in Sevastopol and condemn the terrorist attack carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
