The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Armenian ambassador to the country. This is reported in Russian telegram channel Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Jewish State.
The statement states that the head of the diplomatic mission in Yerevan has been invited to “issue a strong condemnation”. The reason was Armenia’s decision to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.
On June 21, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the republican authorities decided to recognize the State of Palestine. According to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yerevan thus confirmed its commitment to international law and the principles of peaceful coexistence of peoples.
In the message, it was emphasized that the Armenian leadership has always advocated a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue. Yerevan takes the view that two states are the only way to ensure that Israelis and Palestinians realize their legitimate aspirations.
As of June 2024, the State of Palestine is recognized by more than 140 of the 193 UN member states. Norway, Spain and Ireland were among the last to do so. Their decision entry Valid as of May 28.
