The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to summon the Swedish chargé d’affaires in order to protest the Swedish side’s accusation of Iran of recruiting terrorists operating against Israel. The agency reports that IRNA.
The ministry summoned a Swedish diplomat on Saturday to protest Iran’s “baseless and biased” accusations, which the ministry said were based on disinformation and under the influence of the Zionist regime.
Formerly Swedish Member of Parliament Markus Wichel stated about the need to take precautions against “threats posed by authoritarian states.” In a letter to the country’s Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, Russia asked for clarification on what steps were being taken to unite “nearby” forces (e.g. NATO members) to counter “threats” from China and Iran.
In the letter, Markus Wichel referred to data from the yearbook of the Swedish State Security Police. The report states, among other things, that Russia, China and Iran remain the countries that “pose the greatest threat to Sweden”. According to parliamentarians, these three states carry out “intelligence activities” against Sweden and at the same time cooperate with each other.
