The European Commission today decided to close the procedure under art. 7 of the EU Treaty towards Poland. According to the EC, there is no longer a clear violation of the rule of law in Poland.
The Commission considers that there is no longer a clear violation of the rule of law in Poland and has therefore withdrawn its reasoned proposal that initiated this procedure in 2017.

Today, the formalities of something that was previously announced, especially last week, have simply been completed
– he emphasized, referring to the meeting of European Affairs Ministers.
The Vice-President of the European Commission, Viera Jourova, who took part in the event, informed about the Commission’s new positive assessment of the state of the rule of law in Poland.
