“Nord Stream 2, a symbolic investment in business relations between Germany and Russia in particular, was created when Donald Tusk was the head of the European Council,” Beata Szydło emphasized on Telewizja wPoland. “He played and still plays in the team that did business with Russia,” said the former Prime Minister and current MEP for Law and Justice.
In a conversation with Michał Karnowski, the former Prime Minister explained what signals she received from people during her campaign rallies
Campaign for Law and Justice
First of all, people start to worry about their future. It reminds me a little of the time during the 2015 campaign, when people were worried about their livelihoods, about whether they could afford to pay their bills, about whether there would be jobs. This atmosphere is slowly starting to return
– took note of the PiS member.
The forecasts of July electricity and gas bills that Poles are currently receiving, the increases in these bills by more than 30 or more percent, are really impressing people. They also feel that prices in stores are high, so all this starts to create an atmosphere of uncertainty. In this respect, the climate is certainly beginning to change, as the stability that Poland achieved in eight years when Law and Justice was in power is coming to an end.
she continued.
But when it comes to us, about Law and Justice politicians, our conversations are good. First of all, I would like to draw attention to one thing: we have to go to the polls. I worry that the problem may be that our voters may not take this election seriously – perhaps not seriously – but may decide they are not important enough to participate in it. And this is crucial. Today we must all remember that on June 9 we will of course decide the fate of the European Union and Poland, but everyone must also be aware of this in their daily lives. The fact that it will be expensive is because we currently have a government in Poland that unfortunately accepts these Brussels solutions… We didn’t do that, we were looking for solutions to help the Poles. You have to vote
– she emphasized.
Choices about the everyday life of Poles
Beata Szydło was also asked what the European Parliament elections were actually about.
On the one hand, about everyone’s daily life. More and more decisions made in Brussels translate into the daily life of every Polish family, every Pole, every European. Green Deal – this is, I think, a term that most Poles know. After all, this is a program that has destroyed Europe’s economy and agriculture, translating into higher costs for daily functioning and living. This is a bad program
– said the former Prime Minister.
On the other hand, these will be elections about whether the member states, including of course Poland, will be sovereign and able to make important decisions at home. Even decisions about what our children will learn at school will be dictated by Brussels officials
– she added.
And finally: will the European Union survive as a community? An attempt is currently being made to destroy this community on the basis of solidarity, subsidiarity and equal treatment, mainly by Brussels technocrats who, under the dictate of Germany, want to completely change the face of this European Union.
– emphasized the politician.
Tusk even threatened Poland
The former Prime Minister also commented on the accusations, including: by Donald Tusk – that Law and Justice is a pro-Russian party.
This is obviously a lie intended solely for campaign effect. Nord Stream 2, a symbolic investment in business relations mainly between Germany and Russia, was created when Donald Tusk was head of the European Council. He fully accepted these solutions. Migration pact that should destroy the European Union from within – Donald Tusk, as head of the European Council, even threatened Poland. I was in the room during this debate at the European Council – I said that we would never agree to accept illegal migrants, and then he said that Poland should be punished for not showing solidarity
– recalls the MEP.
He played and still plays in the team that did business with Russia. Of course, the war in Ukraine changed this perspective somewhat and the EU had to abandon this partnership. Tusk himself said that we should have good relations with Russia, his photos with Putin…
– she added.
PiS programs and projects must be continued
Speaking about “Shield East”, Szydło emphasized that “security must come before political disputes”.
If there is indeed a good plan, the government must be supported by the opposition on security issues. Absolute. When Tusk was in opposition, his party and his party did everything they could to attack the Law and Justice government, when we introduced a defense strategy and built a wall on the Polish-Belarusian border. Please remember how we were attacked then. Tusk himself (…) mocked the border guards and soldiers and attacked them. Today he tries to show himself as an advocate for security, he goes to the border
– she said.
If his words were put into action, safety would actually be taken seriously. If these plans become reality, we only have to say yes: a very good direction. It’s just that what Donald Tusk is talking about today is an enigmatic future. There are no plans yet. These are just announcements for now. However, there are specific details, there are programs and projects that the Law and Justice government has started that must be continued because there is currently a war raging on the eastern border.
– emphasized Beata Szydło.
