“Is the will of Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz and the will of Donald Tusk the same? Because which of them is more important, you probably know. (…) We have started a process from which we will find it difficult to withdraw. Therefore, we can look carefully, cautiously and perhaps even suspiciously at what will happen, but not without an element of optimism. We are ready to work together on these issues because, I repeat, we are not a total opposition, but a constructive opposition. We want the well-being of Poland,” PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized during a meeting with residents of Kozielice.
Security and plans of the Ministry of Defense
The former Deputy Prime Minister of Security pointed out that “not so long ago the new Minister of National Defense (…) Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz of PSL presented a program that is in fact largely a continuation of our program. “
And we notice it. And we are honest in politics, we are not total opposition and we say yes, this kind of thing needs to be done, maybe some of it needs to be supplemented somehow, maybe it needs to be expanded somehow, there may be There is no certainty that some of the points in our program will actually be implemented, but the general direction is correct
– he said.
The only question is whether they will actually succeed in the policy they want to implement? If someone believes that the European Union (…) can be a serious element in the security system, can such a person actually manage Poland’s defense affairs properly? Because on the one hand we have NATO here and this is the base and there can be no doubt about that. We need NATO and especially an alliance with the United States
– added.
However, Jarosław Kaczyński stated that even all the EU armies together would not be enough to deter Russia.
There is no tendency to rapidly increase defense spending, as we did, to get back to what it was before the Cold War. Remember that the average defense expenditure in NATO countries at the time was 5.9 percent, or almost 6 percent. GDP. Today they are well below 2, in some countries around 1 percent of GDP. It’s really not enough
– he said.
And I repeat: there is no visible will to change this. We have to focus on what is real, and this alliance is real, our armed forces are real
– he emphasized.
Reservation towards Kosiniak-Kamysz
What is real is what we already have and can have. Don’t delay the different types of contracts that should have been signed but haven’t been signed yet. (…) Because we need a lot to deter them, and if God forbids them to attack, to fight victoriously. And we can afford it, we can have a lot
– Jarosław Kaczyński continued.
And this reservation towards Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz still applies, because during our meetings we have often said: actions, not words. For now there are words and they are not that bad, but the actions are worse. But hopefully we keep the pressure on. We have really good specialists, we made this whole plan, of course, based on the proposals of the General Staff. We have created and doubled the expenditure for the armed forces and we will continue to strive for Poland to move in this direction.
– he emphasized.
There’s another question here. Is the will of Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz and the will of Donald Tusk the same? Because which of them is more important, you probably know. Will these instructions from Berlin, where the instructions come from, go in the direction that the Defense Minister recently talked about?
– asked the PiS president.
We have started a process from which we will find it difficult to withdraw. Therefore, we can look carefully, cautiously and perhaps even suspiciously at what will happen, but not without an element of optimism. We are ready to work together on these issues because, I repeat, we are not a total opposition, but a constructive opposition. We want the well-being of Poland
– said Jarosław Kaczyński.
