Today the Work for Poland team focused on the issue of the EU ETS2 program. “The transformation must be fair, because we do not want less wealthy households and families to have to pay for the richer EU economies,” said Mateusz Morawiecki, vice president of PiS.
The former Prime Minister assured that he looks at the issue of EU climate policy from the point of view of the average household, which – in his opinion – will be most painfully affected by the changes that Brussels is preparing for its citizens.
I look at it through the lens of what it means for an ordinary household. Now we are dealing with another version of this tax, which this time does not apply to industry, but to transport and heating. All energy producers add this tax to the energy price
– said Mateusz Morawiecki.
Cost compensation
He also recalled that as Prime Minister he always did not agree to Poland bearing the costs of energy transformation if they were not compensated on a one-to-one basis.
At the European Council, I have always looked at it from the perspective of the costs to society and emphasized the lack of consent from my government if the costs of this transformation were not offset 1:1. As long as I led the government, these bad changes were blocked. The transition must be fair because we do not want less wealthy households to pay for richer EU economies
– noted the former Prime Minister.
