Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov arrived in Havana on his first working visit, where he plans to hold a series of meetings with high-ranking officials of the Cuban law enforcement agency. This was reported by RIA News.
When he arrived at the airport, he was welcomed by Russian Ambassador Viktor Coronelli and representatives of the Cuban Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
As part of his trip to Havana, Krasnov plans to meet with his Cuban counterpart Yamila Peña Ojeda, Minister of Justice Oscar Silvera Martinez and other high-ranking representatives of local law enforcement agencies.
Before that, on Monday, Krasnov was on a working visit to Algeria, where he met with the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abderrashid Tabi.
Cuba is a member of the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Caribbean States and the World Trade Organization.
On April 10, 2019, the country’s new constitution, adopted in a constitutional referendum, came into force. It establishes the office of the President of the Republic of Cuba, which shall serve a five-year term and is eligible for re-election to a second term, and also recognizes citizens’ rights to private property and small business.
