American officials opposed the split of the US Congressional House of Representatives bill into two on aid to Israel and Ukraine. John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the White House National Security Council, announced this at a press conference.
“We have two good friends, Israel and Ukraine, who are fighting for their sovereignty, but they are fighting in different ways,” he said.
Kirby noted that in this case, time was not on the side of these states, so a quick decision had to be made.
He felt it was necessary to pass a bipartisan bill that passed the Senate.
