The Polish Prime Minister finally decided to speak out about the death of a Pole killed in front of the Israeli army. Donald Tusk writes about the ‘understandable anger’ over the response of Israeli politicians and the ‘tragic attack on volunteers’.
World Central Kitchen (WCK), a US-based humanitarian organization operating in the Gaza Strip, announced on Tuesday that seven members of its team, including: from Poland, were killed in an Israeli attack. WCK reported that these people died while delivering food aid that had arrived in the Gaza Strip by ship from Cyprus a few hours earlier.
President Andrzej Duda, Mateusz Morawiecki and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on the issue.
Tusk’s entry
Referring to the case, Tusk drew attention to the behavior of the Prime Minister of Israel and the country’s ambassador to Poland.
He recalled Polish solidarity after the Hamas attack. He then argued that the reaction of the politicians mentioned provokes ‘understandable anger’.
Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu, Mr. Ambassador Liwne, the vast majority of Poles showed full solidarity with Israel after the Hamas attack. Today you are putting this solidarity to a very serious test. The tragic attack on volunteers and your response are causing understandable anger
– we read in Tusk’s entry.
A faster and more decisive response can be expected from the head of the Polish government. After all, this is the death of a citizen of the Republic of Poland.
