Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna referred on Radio Zet to the arrival of the Israeli ambassador in Poland, who stated, among other things, that “the extreme right and left in Poland are accusing Israel of deliberate murder.” According to Szejna, what Yakov Liwne wrote is thoughtless, and Israel today should “kneel down, apologize and say nothing more.”
Drama for Israel’s image

According to Szejna, the Israeli ambassador’s response is ill-considered and Israel should today “kneel, apologize and say nothing more.” He added that the attack on the humanitarian convoy was a tragedy for Israel’s image. He recalled that the ruling coalition condemned the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, but now the entire civilized world, including Poland, condemns the attack on volunteers.
There was no need to summon the ambassador
Szejna expressed his condolences to the families of the victims killed in the Israeli attack on Radio Zet. As he emphasized, the head of the Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, demanded a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Israel Katz and told him that the attack was an unprecedented, impossible and unacceptable situation.
When asked whether Poland would demand compensation for the family of the deceased Pole, the Deputy Foreign Minister replied that this was self-evident to him. He noted that he was not convinced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s explanation that the death of seven employees of the World Central Kitchen charity in the Gaza Strip is “a tragic case of accidental hits on innocent people” by Israeli forces.
Even if it was tragic and unintentional, it is the same as when someone accidentally hits someone with a car: he or she is criminally and materially liable. I think the Prime Minister of Israel needs to think about who should be held responsible for pushing the button and how the families of the victims should be compensated.
– said Szejna.
He assured that the response of the Polish Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the attack on the humanitarian convoy was appropriate and decisive. At the same time, he ruled that there was no need to call the Israeli ambassador to Poland “on the carpet”. As he reported, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded a meeting with the ambassador, who assured him of the immediate presentation of the results of the investigation.
