“If the regulations regarding the morning-after pill were returned to the Sejm for women over 18 years old, the President’s decision would be different,” said Presidential Minister Małgorzata Paprocka, commenting on the presidential veto on the change to the pharmaceutical law.
The morning-after pill remains available under the current conditions
As a result of the President’s decision, the legal status remains unchanged. The drugs and medicines we are talking about, mainly related to contraception, and especially the product known as ellaOne, will be available under the current rules, that is, after obtaining a prescription.
– said Małgorzata Paprocka in front of the presidential palace.
During the briefing, Minister Paprocka said the President listened to the voices of parents, who reached his office through numerous correspondence.
She added that the president emphasized that “if these solutions were returned to the Sejm, but with regard to women over 18 years old, the assessment of this type of regulation would be different.”
