Russian Ambassador Sergei Kopyrkin denied the claims of a number of representatives of the Armenian authorities that the Russian Federation is forcing this republic to join the Union State (USA) consisting of Russia and Belarus. Armenian portal reports this 24News.
According to the diplomat, he wonders where this issue came from. He noted that there are public organizations and political forces in Armenia that “advocate for this process”, but in this case they have nothing to do with Russian-Armenian relations or the political dialogue between Moscow and Yerevan.
“As a person, as a Russian, as an ambassador, I sympathize with this, but I do not know whether this issue has been raised as the subject of our political dialogue and discussion,” Kopyrkin added.
On March 29, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan said that Armenia was always on the path of the European Union until it was drawn into another system, the EAEU. According to him, obtaining EU candidate status is the most desirable and correct option for Yerevan.
Simonyan at the end of February statedThey are trying to force Armenia to join the Union State (USA) consisting of Russia and Belarus.
Previously Lavrov reproached Armenia insults Russia.
