“On March 26, Poland and Germany will activate a coalition of armored capabilities to support Ukraine,” the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced after a meeting with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius.
Both politicians spoke at a specially organized joint press conference.
Shared responsibility
The PSL president assessed that Poland, together with Germany, “takes responsibility” in the field of European rapid reaction forces.
As of July, our battle groups are 2.5 thousand. Polish soldiers and 2.5 thousand German soldiers will be ready to respond quickly
– he pointed out.
These are rapidly deployable forces that fulfill the tasks of the strategic compass, that is, the plan adopted by the European Union after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
– added Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Coalition for Armored Capabilities
According to the information provided by the head of the Polish Ministry of National Defense, other countries of the European Union have not expressed their willingness to take on this task.
Not everyone could demonstrate such a rapid response potential as Germany and Poland
— Kosiniak-Kamysz noticed.
The People’s Party leader also said that Poland and Germany would “activate a coalition of armored capabilities to support Ukraine” on March 26, with other countries already expected to join, including Britain, Italy and Sweden.
On March 26, we as co-leaders, Poland and Germany, will activate a coalition of armored capabilities to support Ukraine. This is one of the most important coalitions that has emerged. As two countries we are co-leaders of this project, while other partners such as Great Britain, Sweden and Italy have signed up.
– said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
