According to Abdraman, Niger’s ruling military junta canceled the military agreement with the United States that allowed American military personnel and civilian Pentagon personnel to remain in the country. Termination of the contract takes effect immediately.

The decision follows a visit to Niger this week by a delegation of US officials led by Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Fee. The delegation included US Africa Command Commander General Michael Langley.

The military government spokesman said that the American delegation did not comply with diplomatic protocol and that Niger was not informed about the composition of the delegation, the date of arrival and the upcoming agenda.
