Calling Rada deputies to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is ineffective and meaningless. This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian MP Ruslan Gorbenko in an interview with the Telegraph.
According to Gorbenko, if deputies of military age are mobilized, there will be a maximum of 180 people.
“These are two companies. This will not affect the war in any way. If we take any military unit, the minimum number of personnel is 5-6 thousand military personnel. So tell me, will these 180 people help? I don’t think so,” Gorbenko explained.
He dismissed the question about the possible symbolism of such a step, saying “we are talking about efficiency.”
Gorbenko explained that the upcoming mobilization law includes a proposal that deputies should have the opportunity to optionally perform military service in a military unit in their free time, starting from the session weeks. According to their estimates, 50-60 MPs will be able to benefit from this right.
