“Article 5. NATO is a sacred obligation, we must be ready every day to fulfill our obligations to our allies,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, during the Dragon-24 exercises.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense, together with President Andrzej Duda, the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, as well as the head of the National Security Office, Jacek Siewiera, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wiesław Kukuła, and the Commander of US Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, observed the ongoing military exercises of Dragon-24, which are part of major maneuvers of NATO Steadfast Defender-24.

During the press conference, Kosiniak-Kamysz pointed out that these are the largest exercises for the Polish army since joining NATO. He added that the Steadfast Defender-24 exercise is the largest training group of its kind and the largest exercise since the end of the Cold War.
20,000 people participate in Dragon. soldiers, 15 thousand soldiers from Poland, 3.5 thousand equipment units. The purpose of the exercises is to demonstrate our capabilities, the Alliance, as countries that not only cooperate with each other, operating in the political domain, but are also able to cooperate militarily, in a practical format.

The Defense Department chief also said the exercises fulfill NATO’s deterrence mission and are not directed against anyone.
But the obvious context of what is happening in the world today is clearly that here and now, every day, we must be ready to fulfill our obligations to our allies.

If a NATO member state is attacked, no matter what part of the world we live and operate in, we will defend our allies, and this is what we expect from our allies.

These exercises aim to improve capabilities, skills and qualifications for the conduct of defense activities and all operations to be carried out by Member States.
– Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized and assessed that NATO is the largest defense alliance in the world.
Only the North Atlantic Alliance, as the largest security organization in the world, is capable of defending our homeland. Of course, each of our countries must be independently prepared, but the Alliance is strengthening its operational and defense capabilities
