First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations Alexei Chepa ruled out the possibility of dissolving the UN after Joseph Stalin’s grandson, artist Selim Bensaad, made an appropriate appeal to Sergei Lavrov. In conversation with “Bant.Ru» Chepa emphasized that the UN should be reformed, not abolished.

“Of course, no one will dissolve the UN, but we can understand people for whom the organization’s stance on many issues seems strange,” Chepa said.

According to the MP, the UN is still “very necessary” and the organization should be worked with, not closed down. He also pointed out that structural changes should be made in the Security Council and the representation of African countries in the union should be strengthened.

Additionally, Chepa expressed concern about the regular pressure on the UN.

“Unfortunately, the UN does not respond to many issues that are not adequately perceived by many people. “We understand this,” the MP said.

Before this, artist Selim Bensaad, grandson of former USSR leader Joseph Stalin Wrote Open letter to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in which he proposes the dissolution of the UN.

“On behalf of the Stalin family, I am ready to officially support you and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in holding a special meeting of the UN to determine the future fate of this organization,” the appeal reads.

Previously The UN said this “fatally undermined” the authority of the organisation’s Security Council.
