The National Day of Remembrance of the Cursed Soldiers has been celebrated on March 1 since 2011 at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński. This date was chosen to commemorate the fact that on March 1, 1951 in Mokotów prison in ul. Rakowiecka, on the orders of the communist authorities, the leaders of the 4th board of the Association “Freedom and Independence” – Łukasz Ciepliński and his fighting comrades – were shot in the back of the head. They were the final leadership of the last nationwide conspiracy that continued the work of the Home Army since 1945.
