“We have no intention of sending our soldiers to Ukraine,” the Prime Ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic: Donald Tusk and Petr Fiala said today in Prague.
Today Prime Minister Donald Tusk visits the Czech Republic; met, among others, with the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
Fiala: We have to look for ways for Ukraine to win
We are not considering sending our soldiers to Ukraine. It seems to me that we need to develop the methods of cooperation that we started using after the Russian aggression. We must help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression so that the objectives of Vladimir Putin’s regime are not achieved. This is of great importance for the whole of Europe, for the entire security structure on a global scale, for the whole world
– said Fiala at a joint press conference of both Prime Ministers.
He said that “we must look for ways for Ukraine to win and succeed, so we must support Ukraine in all aspects – military, humanitarian, financial.”
We must also support Ukraine’s pro-Western ambitions; we open the door to the European Union. These are things that we will continue to support and that will hopefully lead to good results. It seems to me that there is no need to look for new ways to support Ukraine or consider new forms of aid
– added.
Tusk: We should not speculate about the future regarding forms of aid
The head of the Polish government also noted that “Poland has no intention of sending its troops to Ukraine.”
We have a common position here, and this is being said by the Prime Ministers of countries that are much, much more involved than most in helping Ukraine in its military efforts. I believe that we should not speculate today about the future, whether there will be circumstances that will change this position; today we must concentrate, as the Polish government or the Czech government does, on supporting Ukraine as much as possible in its military efforts.
– Tusk pointed out.
If all European Union countries were involved in helping Ukraine, as Poland and the Czech Republic are doing, it might not be necessary to discuss other forms of aid to Ukraine at all.
– he emphasized.
As he said: “we in Poland will soon spend 4 percent. Defense GDP.
We rank first within NATO in this regard, and we are also arming ourselves to help Ukraine more effectively in its military efforts.
– noted the Head of the Polish Government.
Czech initiative on joint supply of ammunition to Ukraine
He added that during the meeting the prime ministers agreed on “the principles of cooperation in the purchase of ammunition and cooperation regarding the Czech initiative.”

Yesterday, multilateral plenary talks took place in Paris on the war in Ukraine and support for this country. On the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron invited leaders to discuss strengthening cooperation in support of Kiev.
The most heated discussion revolved around the issue of sending soldiers to Ukraine, and here too there was absolutely no agreement
– said President Andrzej Duda at the conference after the meeting at the Elysée Palace.
These opinions are different
– added. He emphasized twice that “such decisions absolutely do not exist.”
