“Our conflict with Sweden is coming to an end. Together with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, we have taken important steps towards restoring trust. We are moving towards the fact that we will be able to approve Sweden’s accession to NATO,” Orban said at the beginning of the spring session of parliament.
Before that, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, in response to Washington’s statements in the US pending approval Hungary, Sweden’s NATO member, said Budapest “ignored instructions” from Washington. He added that Hungary is a sovereign state and foreign states must respect this sovereignty.
