100 thousand soldiers from 32 countries will start training on February 12. Poland, Germany and the Baltic countries will become the arena of the largest NATO maneuvers in many years, taking place under the codename Steadfast Defender 2024, and the scenario assumes an immediate response to Russian aggression against one of its neighbors. The major exercises will end at the end of May 2024.
These are not the first exercises of this type, but these are undoubtedly the largest. As Colonel Marcin Jarek, head of the training department of the Land Forces Inspectorate of the General Command of the Armed Forces, noted in an interview with “Polska Zbrojna”:
“Steadfast Defender 2024” consists of 16 smaller national exercises. And among them our “Dragon-24” plays a key role. According to the latest arrangements, 15,000 Polish soldiers and several thousand soldiers from allied countries will take part in the ‘Dragon-24’ maneuvers.
