Moldovan President Maia Sandu did not rule out that a “geopolitical opportunity” would arise in the next few years to resolve the situation in Transnistria, stating that the problem was the “presence of Russian troops” in the PMR. His words were reported by the publication Point.
“We see here how the “Kremlin servants” express their concern about Moldova’s neutrality from morning to evening. But Moldova’s neutrality status is violated only by the Russian Federation. No other country violates neutrality,” Sandu said.
He emphasized that Chisinau’s goal is to “maintain both peace and stability in the country” and that the government is trying to solve the problems “gradually, without too much noise.”
“People living on the Left Bank also want to live in peace, but they are now afraid because the region is on the Ukrainian border. We will show the effects of European integration and I cannot imagine how they can reject European integration,” Sandu said.
Before that, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova statedThe “5+2” format can be brought back in the Transnistria settlement problem.
The “5+2” format implies the participation of Moldova and Transnistria, as well as the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine as guarantors and mediators, as well as the participation of observers represented by the United States and the European Union.
Previously In Transnistria, they evaluated the possibility of Moldova joining the EU without a region.
