The court in Warsaw ordered Antoni Macierewicz to apologize by posting an apology to Donald Tusk, Radosław Sikorski and Tomasz Siemoniak on the website. The judgment is not final. Roman Giertych, lawyer for all three Civic Platform politicians, is happy with the ruling in the first instance.
In May 2020, Antoni Macierewicz wrote on Twitter:
10 YEARS, 122 months, 528 weeks, 3699 days: T. Siemoniak, D. Tusk, R. Sikorski and others hide criminals, perpetrators of the Smolensk tragedy. T. Arabski convicted, time for the rest.
Illegal judgment
According to today’s verdict from the Warsaw court, the former head of the Smolensk Subcommittee, Antoni Macierewicz, will post an apology on the social media platform X.
“I, Antoni Macierewicz, apologize to Messrs. Donald Tusk, Radosław Sikorski and Tomasz Siemoniak for violating their personal rights by falsely and baselessly accusing them of hiding criminals in my message on Twitter of May 26, 2020, perpetrators of the Smolensk disaster. I am publishing this statement in response to a lost lawsuit
– this is what the content of the message should read. The verdict is not final, so Antoni Macierewicz has the right to appeal. It is difficult to expect the same from Tusk, Siemoniak and Sikorski. Roman Giertych, who represents them in this lawsuit, is satisfied with this ruling.
The Warsaw court has just ordered Antoni Macierewicz to apologize on the attributed
– said Giertych, who is now a party colleague of all three in the KO parliamentary club, in a message on the X platform.
The Smolensk Subcommittee, which operated in recent years at the Ministry of National Defense and was headed by Antoni Macierewicz, managed to exclude the cause of the tragedy that the Russians presented in General Anodina’s report. Neither the armored birch nor the mistakes of the Polish pilots could have been the direct cause of the Smolensk disaster. It was found that only as a result of a series of micro-explosions could such extensive defragmentation of the aircraft and its distribution over a large space occur. Unfortunately, the absence of the wreckage of the plane, which was handed over to the Russians indefinitely during the government of Donald Tusk, made it impossible to conduct a detailed investigation. Meanwhile, in recent days the new Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has reinstated Jerzy Miller’s report, repeating Russian positions, as an official binding document detailing the causes of the disaster. Is it surprising then that the bitter tone of Antoni Macierewicz’s words from years ago about those responsible for the disaster is surprising? Perhaps he, Antoni Macierewicz, will now have to explain his efforts to determine the causes of the Smolensk disaster as accurately as possible.
