London Police has created a new unit to tackle “threats” from Russia, China and Iran. The newspaper reports this Telegram referring to Matt Jewkes, the British police’s deputy chief constable in charge of special operations.
Describing the unit as an “investigation team”, Jewkes stated that the kingdom is facing the greatest threat from these countries since the Cold War.
The law enforcement officer added that his department’s workload on countering espionage and interference from other states has quadrupled since the Salisbury incident in 2018. According to Jukes, the new unit will fight these threats together with intelligence agencies.
