Krzysztof Bosak, the leader of the Confederation, remains deputy chairman of the Sejm. The motion to dismiss him was lost in the vote on Wednesday: 32 MPs voted in favor, while 77 MPs voted against the motion. 152 MPs abstained and 196 did not participate in the vote.
The motion to dismiss Bosak was prepared by the left in connection with his response to the behavior of Confederation MP Grzegorz Braun, who in December, during the Hanukkah ceremony in the Sejm, used a powder fire extinguisher to extinguish Hanukkah candles placed in the Sejm were lit. He then appeared on the Sejm stage as Vice Marshal Bosak presided over the proceedings. The procedure was taken over by Marshal Szymon Hołownia.
The left filed a motion to dismiss Bosak as deputy speaker of the Sejm, arguing that he enabled Braun to deliver an anti-Semitic speech that included: calling the Hanukkah candlelight ceremony “racist.”
The motion was rejected during the vote in the Sejm on Wednesday afternoon. 32 MPs voted in favor, mainly from the left, while 77 MPs voted against, mainly from PSL and Polski 2050. 152 MPs – mainly from KO – abstained, and 196 MPs – mainly from PiS – did not participate in the vote.
The Sejm may dismiss the deputy marshal by an absolute majority vote in the presence of at least half of the legal number of deputies.
