European Union Head of Diplomacy Josep Borrell said that he sent a proposal to the member countries of the association to establish a mission to ensure navigation safety in the Red Sea. This was reported by RIA News.
“I presented this proposal to EU member states,” Borrell said.
He emphasized that the possibility of helping to restore freedom of navigation was discussed, including the establishment of a new European naval operation currently operating off the coast of Somalia. The head of European diplomacy also talked about the Atalanta mission.
According to Borrell, a significant part of the cargo transported via the Red Sea will be sent specifically to Europe, and the blockade of this route will result in additional transportation costs.
