MPs Mariusz Gosek of Sovereign Poland and Jerzy Polaczek of PiS met with the director of the Grochów Remand Center in Warsaw and discussed the situation of their detained colleagues. “We spoke very specifically and it can be said that it was a constructive conversation. We had a dozen questions and we got answers,” MP Gosek emphasized in an interview with wPolsce.pl, adding that it was also about personal issues. Former head of the CBA Mariusz Kamiński, who opposed the lawlessness of the current Tusk government, started a hunger protest. Kamiński and Wąsik are now awaiting the appointment of a prison where they will serve their two-year sentences.
The deputies were admitted to the detention center
Mariusz Gosek was one of those who waited outside the gate of the Warsaw Grochów Remand Center until late in the evening yesterday to be admitted. As he said in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal, the purpose of the visit was to talk about the health status of the detainees.
We asked about the health status, but for now the family is primarily entitled to this information. Mariusz Kamiński is a tough man and he protests against the lawlessness that is taking place
– he said.
As he emphasized, at the time of the detention of both deputies in Monitor Polski, no information was published that the mandates of Kamiński and Wąsik had expired.
This information was presented to the Marshal of Hołownia by the head of the National Electoral Commission. We are dealing with a situation where Kamiński and Wąsik are still members of parliament. If it were otherwise, their names would also be removed from the Sejm website. The decisions regarding their mandates are therefore not final and the Marshal is aware of this. Because a court decision in a criminal case is one thing, and the issue of lifting a mandate and immunity is something else.
The procedure for terminating the mandates of Kamiński and Wąsik had not yet been completed at the time of their arrest; both were still members of parliament.
What about Kierwiński’s SOP?
Gosek also pointed out that President Andrzej Duda faced quite a problem in this whole situation. And it is not just about the detention of MPs Kamiński and Wąsik.
The president should analyze the behavior of officers of the State Protection Service, which is supervised by Minister Kierwiński and which guards the first person in the country. The point is that the actions of people the president knew nothing about were tolerated in the presidential building. This is the basis for establishing or splitting off a new service, perhaps separate from the military police. After what happened yesterday, I cannot imagine that the presidential palace and the president would be protected by the SOP subordinate to Kierwiński.
As he added, associations immediately come to mind with the 2010 tragedy and the behavior of the security service. The Public Prosecution Service may soon have to investigate the actions of SOP officials in the presidential palace and during the president’s stay in Belweder.
We will pass this case on to the public prosecutor’s office. It concerns a suspicion of committing a crime. Some SOP officers run with police officers through the corridors of the presidential palace. It looks like a banana republic. While the president is meeting with the Belarusian opposition
– said MP Gosek.
