They had ‘democracy’, ‘rule of law’ and ‘Constitution’ on their banners. But? On December 13, the coalition showed what it was capable of after December 19, when the attack on public media began. Rafał Woś writes candidly about Donald Tusk’s team. “No government in Poland came so close to falling into actual tyranny after 1989. None of them gave such great consent to such tyranny,” the journalist noted in Interia.
“Gigarym pole? Turbo rhythm? Turbo-giga-megarympact?”
Rafał Woś started his column with thought-provoking questions.
If PiS governed ‘on a whim’, what should we call the actions of their successors? Gigarym pole? Turbo rhythm? Turbo-giga-megarympact? Question number two. If Kaczyński’s party doesn’t care about ‘guarantees’ or ‘minority rights’, where (only serious proposals please!) do Ministers Sienkiewicz and Bodnar have them?
– we are reading.
For eight years, the previous regime was accused day after day (both at home and abroad) of harboring the ‘authoritarian gene’. It was said that PiS members would never give up power once they gained it, that they would not respect the election results, that they would put their opponents in jail and remove the last of the opposition’s support in the media. That’s how it was, and if you don’t remember it, remember it, read it, watch it. In this situation and against the background of these accusations, what should we call the current rulers?
– added Woś.
How can one even comment on statements like “we are restoring constitutionality and seeking a legal basis to do so” (Adam Bodnar)? Or “the rule of law is what we understand by the rule of law” (Donald Tusk). Or “the constitution is a trap set by PiS for democracy” – as Wojciech Sadurski, a lawyer and unrepentant critic of PiS, was kind enough to comment on what is happening.
– he pointed out.
Two options
Rafał Woś pointed out that the answer to the question of whether the people of the new government are actually the “democrats” as they have been pretending to be for years will only be answered with time. He indicated that there were two options.
The first is optimistic. Some disgusting supporters of the so-called democratic camp. Not ready to be disappointed and express it openly. They think it’s just theater. Such political games. Relaxation after years of humiliation. To some extent even justified. But in the end, common sense will prevail. TVP, TK and other PiS settings are being cleaned up and a guitar is coming. It may not look so nice now, but eventually peace will return to the city
– introduced Woś.
But unfortunately there is also a second possibility. I think more likely. I hope I’m wrong, but I fear that those currently in power will not be able to stop their anti-PiS crusade. The path of power, revenge and responsibility will be too easy. And the belief in one’s own moral righteousness is too sweet and intoxicating. And then it will be too late. After that there is no way back
– he emphasized.
“This already makes them tyrants.”
Interia’s publicist pointed out that “doubts about media policy arising in our own camp are being obscured by bold offensives on other fronts.” He mentioned, among other things, war with President Duda and intrigues against the President of the National Bank of Poland. As he noted, “this is an old and proven method” and “particularly characteristic of authoritarian circles.”
The second path is all the more likely because no one (or almost no one) is monitoring the new government. PiS had powerful foreign forces against it – the European Union, liberal Western media, Soros’ network. And there is a strong opposition in the country, supported by the media and opinion-forming elites. Paradoxically, it served PiS. This made them stand upright. (…) AntyPiS does not have this. Neither foreign countries will take care of them, nor the liberal media, including Agnieszka Holland. And after the takeover of PiS’s public media, these fuses will be even less. And this is the drama of our new rulers. This is their curse. This already makes them tyrants. Real – not imaginary. And extremely dangerous
– Rafał Woś pointed out.
