Popular on the Internet, the Darwin Award is an “honor” for stupid and risky behavior that results in the death of the nominee. If this anti-prize were also awarded to institutions, the European Union would be a sure candidate. Migration, climate policy, forced centralization – how many steps separate us from a suicide leap?
One of the ‘winners’ of the Darwin Award decided to take a selfie above a dangerous cliff. However, the shots did not match and she approached the edge in search of an attractive view. Until she fell and committed suicide. This is how the EU behaves. The world has become very dangerous, but the European “lady” only wants to prevent the winds of history from spoiling her character.
The first step to self-destruction is migration
When Polish public opinion followed the battle for public media with red faces, a migration pact was adopted in the privacy of Brussels offices, with the support of Donald Tusk’s government. There are some cosmetic changes from the original version, but nothing major. The pact’s biggest, irreparable flaw is that it divorces itself from the essence of the migration problem. Instead of halting the growing wave of unwanted arrivals, the European Union is asking how to distribute them “fairly”. Brussels, shackled by political correctness and misunderstood humanitarianism, is afraid to attack international human trafficking mafias, and this is the essence of the problem. Instead, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz gives money to non-governmental organizations that take over these unfortunate people in the Mediterranean from gangsters. The migrants themselves bear the highest price. According to various estimates, almost 40,000 people have drowned on smuggling routes. people. Brussels is also doing nothing to stop the illusion spectacle that Angela Merkel started in 2015. In every African village, even the poorest, they have Chinese smartphones and they see what life is like in Europe, but they don’t know that no one wants them here. The Migration Pact does not combat the cause of the problem, but clumsily tries to halt its consequences. It will not work. It is difficult to predict when, but that moment will come when the number of arrivals on our continent reaches a critical mass. Several scenarios are possible, but all are bad and some are dramatic.
The second step towards the abyss is climate policy
Have any of you noticed that the COP28 climate summit has already ended? The media paid about as much attention to this event as to the World Women’s Handball Championships, which also take place in December (with all due respect to the women who practice this beautiful sport). Why is climate policy no longer interesting? The answer is simple. There is no global climate policy, only the interests of the superpowers, who now have other things on their minds. The world’s biggest polluter sent a fifth group of officials to COP28. It would be difficult to find a clearer signal that China is going its own way. They are the world’s largest producer of renewable energy sources, and on the other hand, they have “burned” a record amount of coal this year. In turn, the United States, governed by Democrats, favors climate protection ideologically and propagandaally, but they will have to deal with it later. A few days ago it was announced that Chinese leader Xi Jinping informed President Joe Biden that he would occupy Taiwan, although he would like to do so peacefully. It is clear that the United States will never let this happen. The question is not whether war will break out between the US and China, but when will it occur? The US is preparing for a two-front conflict, with China and Russia. This means that they will strengthen and militarize the economy. Of course, they won’t give up renewable energy, but they will integrate it into a broader plan, not the other way around. India, another major polluter, is second only to China in coal use but is catching up. Moreover, the Delhi government has announced that it is likely to challenge the EU’s carbon footprint tax (CBAM) in international tribunals. Brussels was convinced that it had created an instrument that would put the world economy on a green track, but things turned out differently. CBAM is seen around the world as part of the trade war. There is no need to mention Russia, because this country has gone down the bandit path and the war in Ukraine – apart from the enormous tragedy and destruction – has become a huge source of carbon dioxide emissions. This year’s climate summit was hosted in the United Arab Emirates, where COP28 was used to promote fossil fuels. Even… mother nature is fighting against radical climate policies. The volcanic eruption in Iceland released so much CO2 into the Earth’s atmosphere that the “savings” achieved by limiting European coal-fired energy are irrelevant.
The only raisin or blemish in this climate cake is the European Union. On the occasion of COP28, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that she needs another trillion euros for the ‘green’ transformation. This means new taxes that will completely ruin the EU economy, which is already losing competitiveness. Brussels is willing to make such sacrifices in the belief that it will reduce CO2 emissions. This is a pure ‘Darwinian’ error in reasoning. CO2 emissions are not decreasing, but are moving to other parts of the world where such restrictive laws do not apply. For the global climate, and this is the only meaningful way to tackle the problem, the European Union’s sacrifices have no meaning whatsoever.
Centralization is the third and perhaps final step
Thousands of wise articles and books have been written about the harmful consequences of building a common European state. But sometimes the simplest arguments are the best. The European Union consists of 27 countries. Each of them has its own history, culture, system of social interactions, international interests, economic structure and development plans. It is impossible to create a monochrome background from this colorful mosaic. In the European superstate there will be weaker and stronger, richer and poorer people, who are important and overlooked. You can’t build a community on inequality. This has never been done before in history. For decades, Yugoslavia was considered a civilized and well-developed country, until Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia realized that they were living under the thumb of Serbia. Regaining their freedom cost them a sea of blood and ruins. The European Union does not learn lessons from the past of other countries. This disregard for history can cost us dearly. The European Union will probably survive the migrant wave. It probably won’t burn due to climate change. However, it may turn out that the greatest threat to the European Union itself is the European Union.
Reasonable people follow the principle that in life it is worth counting on the best, but you need to be prepared for the worst. Darwin Award winners don’t follow the second part of this rule and… die.
