Citizens of European Union countries must pay the full visa fee to Russia as of December 25 Press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to the Ministry, the Russian Federation, following its counterparts, is switching from using visa fee rates specified in international agreements to the tariff approved by Russian legislation.
“From now on, Europeans will need to pay the full visa fee, taking into account additional fees depending on the frequency and urgency of the visa,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
They noted that, unlike the Europeans, the Russian side will continue to partially comply with previously signed visa agreements in terms of simplified procedures and validity periods for issuing visas for certain categories of applicants from Europe. This will affect entrepreneurs, foreigners participating in sports, cultural and scientific activities, school children and students, as well as many others.
Previously Russian President Vladimir Putin approved A law that removes visa benefits for some European citizens.
The law applies to citizens of the European Union as a whole, as well as citizens of Denmark, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
