Gazeta.pl published an interview with Robert Kuraszkiewicz. The historian, political scientist and current president of Rafako talks about, among other things: the future of the European Union. The text contains disturbing words about German plans for the Community.
In the introduction to the material, which is not a quote from a further interview, we read:
Germany wants more power in the EU and will certainly get something if the treaties are changed. And we will have to give it to them, because in the face of more years of war with Russia, a more centralized Union is in our national interest.
– writes gazeta.pl.
In an interview with Kuraszkiewicz, Grzegorz Sroczyński quotes an excerpt from his interlocutor’s text, which was published in “Nowa Konfederacja”.
Now Germany has noticed that the war in Ukraine can be an element that will allow them to build a Union more in line with their own ideas
– reads the last sentence of the quoted fragment.
Responding to his own words, Kuraszkiewicz says:
More consistent with your own ideas, i.e. more centralized.
““Snap through Germany”
Sroczyński then speaks of the fear that Germany will ‘seize’ even more power in the European Union.
The Polish right – not only PiS, but also the conservative part of PO – is afraid of exactly this, that Germany will also take over even more power in the EU
– says the journalist from gazeta.pl.
What does Kuraszkiewicz say about this? He says, among other things: about the need to strengthen the European Union.
And as a conservative, I’m not jumping for joy either. But circumstances have changed radically. The European project is currently the basic instrument that can resolve the situation in Ukraine in Poland’s favor. And it will not be a “European Israel” in the form of an alliance between Ukraine and America, nor a Polish-Ukrainian-American alliance, as PiS dreamed, which was unrealistic from the very beginning. The only real model for a lasting solution to the Ukrainian problem is – I repeat – a strengthened European Union, and that is why some consolidation of European policies, some reform and some centralization are necessary. And of course the Germans and the French benefit from this
– claims.
If we negotiate with Germany today, we will no longer be dealing with a country that is the source of Russian interests in Europe, but with a country that has seen the light. That is why we must involve Germany as strongly as possible in the stabilization of Central and Eastern Europe. Of course, it is worth remembering that Germans have selfishness inherent in their way of acting, which means that they all too often believe that what is good for them is also good for everyone. And it won’t go away
– he convinces.
