If, after the departure of Grzegorz Braun and MPs from the Confederation of the Polish Crown, the Confederation loses the status of a parliamentary club, we are ready to retain the Deputy Marshal of the Confederation. We will also agree to MPs participating in the Sejm committees in the same composition as before, KO MP Michał Szczerba said on Radio Zet.
Problems of the Confederacy
MP Grzegorz Braun used a powder fire extinguisher to extinguish the Hanukkah candles that were lit during the ceremony in the Sejm. He then appeared on the Sejm stage as the meeting was chaired by Konfederacja Deputy Marshal Krzysztof Bosak. The meeting was taken over by Marshal Szymon Hołownia, who excluded Braun from the meeting and announced that, among other things, he would file a request against him with the prosecutor’s office. for disrupting a religious ceremony. Hołownia also announced that the Presidium of the Sejm punished Braun with deprivation of half his salary for three months and the full allowance for half a year.
The Left Club filed a motion to dismiss Krzysztof Bosak from the position of deputy chairman of the Sejm, arguing that it allowed Braun to speak after the incident and enabled him to deliver an anti-Semitic speech. The Left pointed out that Deputy Marshal Bosak’s insufficient response to Braun’s words forced Marshal Hołownia to take over the proceedings.
Grzegorz Braun has also been suspended as a member of the Confederation Club and is not allowed to speak from the parliamentary podium. Some politicians view the Confederation’s actions as insufficient and demand Braun’s expulsion from the Club.

Ultimatum for the Confederacy
The chairman of the Polish-Israeli Parliamentary Group, MP Michał Szczerba (KO), said he still hopes that the Confederation will think about this issue.
I would like to declare that, regardless of whether after the departure of Braun or other parliamentarians affiliated with the Confederation of the Polish Crown, after the loss of the possible status of a parliamentary club, we are prepared to keep the Deputy Marshal out of the Confederation
– he declared.
We are also ready for you to participate in the committees in the same composition as before, but you really have to take a step, Mr. Chairman, otherwise we will be forced to support the left-wing motion to reject.
– said Szczerba to the deputy chairman of the Sejm, Krzysztof Bosak.
Barefoot about disproportionate actions
Bosak recalled that the Confederation Club condemned Braun’s action and suspended him from the Club.
Making a fuss about it – that there will be collective responsibility and that I will be removed as marshal – is disproportionate and frivolous.
– he said. He ruled that what Braun said in the Sejm after the disruption of Hanukkah was a normal debate, while calling his behavior during Hanukkah a scandal. According to Bosak, the left-wing arguments in the motion to dismiss him are incorrect.
The left wants censorship, I will never agree to censorship, no matter what
– he said. He recalled that “when the Church of St. Aleksandra was splashed with red paint by participants of the Women’s Strike, after which ‘no one suggested firing Deputy Marshal Czarzasty.’
When asked about Braun’s statement that “Jews are enemies of the Polish nation,” Bosak responded that “we have the right to be critical not only of Germans and Russians, but also of Jews.” When asked if this was an anti-Semitic statement, he responded that “it is a skeptical statement toward the Jewish community.”
For example, I don’t understand why record-sized Hanukkah candlesticks are being placed in the Sejm this year, but there is no Advent wreath or nativity scene. This is a compulsive display of political correctness – including PiS
– he assessed.
When asked whether there is any limit to MP Braun’s statements and behavior that the Confederation does not accept – as an example, the presenter mentioned Braun’s statement about Robert Biedroń, in which he called him “a public, professional sodomite who would go to prison should go’. – Bosak said: “Everyone has their limits of expression. He added that for him these were the limits of the law. And “that he himself would not use such an expression, but that it is within the limits of freedom of expression falls, and courts in Poland place broad limits on freedom of expression and it may be difficult to convict someone in court for this statement.”
When asked if he was willing to give up his job as marshal for freedom of expression, Bosak said: “Of course we will not do anything in the interest of the people and we will not allow political correctness to be imposed on us. ”
At this point everyone agrees and they think the Confederacy will dance to everyone’s music. Well, it won’t be!
– he emphasized.
Deputy Justice Minister Krzysztof Śmiszek, present in the studio, said about the behavior of MP Braun that “this is how the normalization of the Confederation in the public space and giving the Confederation a place in the Presidium of the Sejm ends. “
This is how you ultimately play games and give back to nationalists
– he assessed. He recalled that the left voted against the election of Krzysztof Bosak as deputy chairman of the Sejm and has now tabled a motion to dismiss him.
Wipler: Hołownia saved Braun
In turn, Przemysław Wipler emphasized on Polsat News that the Confederation acted immediately in the Braun case.
We immediately suspended Grzegorz Braun as a club member. Since he did not participate in this club, there was no motion to expel him
– he pointed.
Later we found ourselves in a very difficult situation, because Szymon Hołownia saved him by giving us an ultimatum and demanding that Grzegorz Braun be expelled from the club.
– said Wipler.
He reported that he had gone to a club meeting together with another Confederation MP, Sławomir Mentzen, with the plan to introduce a motion to expel Grzegorz Braun.
Our voters and supporters cannot be convinced that we are a club, that we are a party that operates in such a way that someone is prepared to throw a colleague out of the club under pressure to save his or her position. This made the situation very complicated for us
– said the politician.
According to Wipler, Braun should be expelled from the club due to his “unacceptable” behavior.
This is a man who has not the slightest feeling that he has done anything inappropriate or bad. This is someone who does not follow rules and principles. We have established that he has been indefinitely suspended as a club member and banned from public speaking and from the parliamentary podium.
– he said.
He also noted that Deputy Marshal Bosak could not have been aware of the fire extinguisher incident because he was conducting a meeting at the time.
Calling Krzysztof Bosak to account is a political and cynical act
– he said.
