Turkey continues to take measures to restart the grain agreement. This was stated by Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of the Republic, quoted by the TV channel. CNN Turk.
The head of the military department expressed hope for a quick end to hostilities in Ukraine. He also said that Ankara has not given up on its efforts to expand the Black Sea Food Initiative.
The Minister said, “We continue to implement our initiatives for the renewal of the Black Sea grain agreement, which was signed under the coordination of our country and made a great contribution to overcoming the food crisis due to its effectiveness.”
He also added that the republic’s government complied with the provisions of the Montreux Bosphorus and Dardanelles Convention in a “responsible and impartial” manner. According to Güler, the country hosted the third round of meetings of the Black Sea Mine Action Task Force at the end of November.
On January 11, 2024, members of the group are expected to sign an agreement against the mine threat in the Black Sea. The defense ministers of Türkiye, Bulgaria and Romania are also expected to attend the ceremony.
