We are dealing with an attempt to plunder political loot in the form of TVP, a very popular television station; The liquidation of this company would be a violation of the law and also contrary to the elementary principle of the rule of law, the head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak, said on Friday.

Announcements of a “coalition of revenge and chaos”
The Constitutional Tribunal has scheduled a hearing on January 16, 2024 on the provisions of, among other things: allowing the liquidation and dissolution of companies that form units of the public radio and television broadcaster. The Court also issued a protective order on Thursday prohibiting such actions.
On Friday, the head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak, commented on the issue.
We hear announcements from the “coalition of revenge and chaos” regarding the liquidation of Polish television. The Constitutional Court clearly stated that the liquidation of TVP would be a violation of the law and contrary to the basic principle of the rule of law. The coalition of revenge and chaos speaks of media order. Meanwhile, we are dealing with an attempt to plunder political loot in the form of TVP, a television that enjoys great popularity and many viewers.
– Błaszczak said at Friday’s press conference.
He pointed out that TVP had exposed many scandals, “including reprivatization in Warsaw, or the so-called windmill scandal.
As the head of the PiS club said, democracy means that the media is free and critical of the government.
Meanwhile, we hear that after the liquidation of public television, or after changes in the authorities of public television, which wants to introduce the coalition of chaos, journalists from a channel that is undoubtedly friends with those who today form the coalition of chaos , would come to this decision. station
– he said.
Błaszczak appealed to the defense of the independence of the media, which he said is currently under attack.
We hope that yesterday’s decision of the Constitutional Court will be respected by those currently in power, because so often they talk about the rule of law, they so often talk about respect for the law. That is why we call for words not to be just words. but also put it into action. We demand respect for the decisions of the Constitutional Court
– said Błaszczak.
“We will appeal against this provision to the Constitutional Court.”
PiS MP Krzysztof Szczucki, who represents the applicants before the Constitutional Court, pointed out at a press conference that TVP, Polskie Radio and regional radio stations are joint-stock companies established under the Broadcasting Act.
The rules of the Companies Code should apply to them, but only to the extent that other specific provisions or principles are not provided for in the Broadcasting Act.
– he said. As he explained, this means that TVP, Polish Radio and regional channels cannot go bankrupt.
We are appealing to the Constitutional Court against this provision, which refers to the Companies Code, because it is inaccurate and contrary to the Constitution in this respect. The Companies Code may only be applied to the extent that it does not conflict with the principles laid down in the Broadcasting Act.
– he emphasized.
He added that if (Prime Minister) Donald Tusk, the head of the Ministry of Culture (Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz) or other members of the coalition decided to interfere with the public media, “the restoration of the legal state after the judgment of the Constitutional Court may no longer be possible.”
Therefore, the Constitutional Court had every right to issue a freezing order
– said Szczucki.
Any interference by the Minister of Culture in the management of public television or Polish radio, any attempt to liquidate these media, or other actions that could be aimed at preventing these media from continuing their mission will be illegal. They constitute a constitutional tort, a criminal tort, and will and should entail criminal liability
– Szczucki noted.
The request to the Constitutional Court was submitted by a group of PiS MPs and concerns the assessment of the constitutionality of the Broadcasting Act in the scope in which it refers to the Commercial Code, and in particular to the provisions of this Code regarding the liquidation and dissolution of capital companies and the dismissal and suspension of directors by the general meeting.

Tusk plans an attack on TVP
During Tuesday’s exposé, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced, among other things, that Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz will become Minister of Culture in his government.
Not only because he is an author of books and a man of culture, but he also has experience when it comes to making the most difficult decisions.
– he emphasized. He explained that Sienkiewicz would be responsible for restoring public media for Poland.
It will soon become apparent that the public media serving Polish women and men is not a mirage, but something impossible. Just as you will see that the legal system can be neutral and impartial, serving Poland and not the ruling party, you will see – and you probably won’t believe your eyes – that public television can serve Poland and not the ruling party. . And so it will be
– Tusk said in his presentation.
