US Senate member Bernie Sanders said that Israel has lost the battle for reputation in terms of the world community’s assessment of the situation in the Middle East. The politician told this to an American television company GIS.

Sanders noted that the Israeli army has destroyed more than half of the houses in the Gaza Strip to date. The senator believes this is why Israel lost the war in terms of how the international community assessed the situation in the region. Sanders therefore expressed the view that Washington does not need to provide Israel with an additional $10 billion for military operations.

The politician suggested that the United States would support the UN resolution establishing a ceasefire in Gaza in the future. Sanders added that this would allow for the release of hostages held by the Hamas movement and the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Sanders also believes that a permanent ceasefire in the region is unlikely to be achieved in the near future due to Hamas’ harsh stance.

Previously reportedIt was stated that the USA told Israel that the military operation in the Gaza Strip should end before the beginning of next year.

Former far-right Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir statedHe said it was not enough to send only “hundreds of tons of explosives” and “not even a gram of humanitarian aid” to Gaza until the civilian hostages were released.
