Every destruction of a Polish institution by PO is accompanied by some propaganda justification – in the case of the attack on the National Bank of Poland, the story goes that President Glapiński should be brought before the State Tribunal for politicizing his position. There is no other complaint, but this one is lamer than a pirate with a wooden leg. “Politicization” is a phrase that the liberal media will throw into anything they want, but previous presidents like Leszek Balcerowicz and Marek Belka didn’t even politicize the NBP, they simply made it partisan.
“Apolitical” Belek
After all, there are still recordings left of the tire scandal Marek Belka talks to Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz about the central bank’s support for the Civic Platform government, for which the president wants the resignation of Jacek Rostowski and an amendment to the law on the National Bank of Poland. The free conversation had the character of coalition negotiations, more explicit than the famous Beger ties with the participation of Adam Lipiński. If we want to take Glapiński to the Tribunal for making jokes at press conferences, it is time to also take Marek Belka to court for selling a state institution to improve the ratings of scandals.
“Apolitical” Balcerowicz
Leszek Balcerowicz became the head of the NBP directly from the position of Chairman of the Freedom Union and directly from the parliamentary benches – Adam Glapiński has not been a parliamentarian for twenty years. Balcerowicz was given this position as part of an interparty agreement with AWS and the government of Jerzy Buzek, who in return received support in the 2001 budget vote. During his presidency, Balcerowicz surrounded himself with people from the Freedom Union (Jerzy Miller was his advisor ), he continued the Freedom Union policies and after leaving office he quickly joined the ranks of NGOs (Civic Development Forum), where he led a campaign to remove PiS from power (“Change the country, go to elections “). If a professor of Marxism-Leninism today calls Adam Glapiński a “grotesque and farcical figure” because he himself has been uniformly and consistently pursuing the interests of foreign capital in Poland for years, this only explains the degradation of the media exposed, where thieves can give lectures on honesty. .
Firstly the slogan about politicization is undefined, secondly in a healthy democracy it should not necessarily have a pejorative connotation but if one accuses the NBP president of politicization he should be far behind his predecessors in the queue before the State Tribunal. .
