“It is the government’s duty to take strong action against this [niekorzystnemu dla Polski zakończeniu wojny na Ukrainie – przyp. red]even with the risk that someone in Berlin will look at it askance,” said Paweł Jabłoński, deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PiS MP, in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.

Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński analyzed for the website wPolityce.pl whether Donald Tusk, taking into account his proposed government composition, would like to continue his previous policies from before 2015, or whether new elements can be expected from them. .
I view certain foreign policy ideas with concern. If this is a return to the same people who were responsible for foreign policy until 2015, it seems that the concept of this policy could be very similar
– he assessed.
Dictation from larger states
The Law and Justice MP expressed strong disapproval of the diplomatic objectives of the then Donald Tusk government, calling them “harmful” and pursuing the interests of foreign powers rather than Poland.
The foreign policy of the time of Donald Tusk was a very damaging policy for Poland, because at that time it did not pursue a policy of its own, but a policy in which it agreed to everything that the larger countries expected from the European Union – especially Germany, and to a lesser extent also France. This was extremely damaging, especially in the context of security, because the then government, acquiescing to the dictates of larger countries, completely abandoned any concrete steps to face the growing danger from Russia.
– said Paweł Jabłoński.
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the PO-PSL government’s exceptionally carefree approach to the increasingly evident German-Russian cooperation, of which Nord Stream 2 was the clearest expression.
At that time, we were experiencing a dynamic development of political and economic relations between Russia and Germany – Nord Stream 2 was a symbol of this, but it was not the only expression of this policy. The Polish government at the time was in principle fully in line with this. There were even claims by the then Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs that we should cooperate with Russia on gas
– he said.
Sikorski even said at one point that we should join the consortium that built Nord Stream 2. These were absolutely terrible concepts and very damaging to Poland. If the same people from PO are involved in foreign policy again, there is a serious risk of returning to their wrong ideas.
– added.

Tasks in foreign policy
According to Jabłoński, the foreign policy tasks that Donald Tusk will first face are security guarantees for Poland in the context of the war in Ukraine.
The main task is to ensure the security of Poland. There should be no doubt that we are still extremely vulnerable to attacks from Russia, which has persistently hostile intentions towards us. If there were a situation in which Russia won the war with Ukraine and somehow managed to subjugate Kiev to it, that would be existentially dangerous for us.
– he pointed out.
The PiS politician expressed his belief that regardless of the political origin of the future government, we must resist pressure from Berlin or other capitals that could design a solution to the conflict in Ukraine that is unfavorable for Poland.
The main task of the Polish government today – whoever fulfills these functions – is to prevent a situation where Russia is stronger, because this puts us in danger. If a situation were to arise where the policies of, for example, Germany or other European countries would put an end to the war that would put Poland in a disadvantageous situation, then it is the duty of the government to resolutely oppose this, even at the expense of someone in Berlin. he might frown upon it
– emphasized Paweł Jabłoński.
