White House National Security Council (NSC) Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said President Joe Biden plans to reassure leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries about Washington’s intention to continue supporting Ukraine. Kirby said Biden plans to meet online with his G7 counterparts.
“I can assure you it will underscore our commitment to supporting Ukraine, especially as we enter these dangerous winter months,” Kirby said.
Earlier, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin commented on the delay in approving the administration’s new request for assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. statedHe said that the United States will stand by Ukraine for a long time.
“The United States stands with the Ukrainian people and we will stand with them for the long term,” Austin said.
The Pentagon chief stated that he expects Congress to quickly approve the administration’s new request for aid to Kiev. He said the package would include an additional $50 billion “through the U.S. industrial base.” In other words, most of the funds will be returned as investments in “America’s security”.
Before this, US President Joe Biden requested $106 billion for aid to Israel and Ukraine, but did not receive clear support. The House of Representatives voted to allocate aid only to the Jewish state, and the Senate blocked the initiative.
